Daesh insurgents have taken control of Tora Bora, a strategic area, in Pacher Agam district of eastern Nangarhar province after heavy clashes with the Taliban in the past a week, local officials confirmed on Thursday.
Residents of Tora Bora said that hundreds of families have fled the area in this time.
In the meantime, Attaullah Khoghyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor confirmed that "Daesh insurgents have taken control of the Tora Bora area from Taliban and government will take action soon."
However, he did not provide further details.
Provincial Council members have accused government of negligence which led to the fall of Tora Bora.
Tora Bora is a strategic area in Pacher Agam. Tora Bora is where former al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden hid in 2001 after the U.S started it's mission in Afghanistan
